This is one of the best historical shows that I’ve watched. These kdrama production companies need to stop using Disney Plus if they want the international viewership. There were a lot of emotionally heavy dramas that preceded the release of bloody heart and I don’t think kdrama fans were ready for an emotional and politically heavy historical kdrama. Now that we have recovered from Our Blues, Again My Life, and My Liberation Notes tune into Disney Plus to watch this show. I was in the US recently and I noticed that there were no KDramas on Disney Plus.
If you live in the US and don’t have access to all of the amazing kdramas, get a VPN. It’s reasonably priced and you can use it for more than just kdramas. I use this VPN. Stop using those sketchy sites! I shop for cheaper flights with it and you can protect the location of your computer.
I’m going to try to keep this post as spoiler free as possible. Why is this show so great? It was the intense romance and Yoo Jeong’s character that made it stand out from the others. You have the beautiful cinematography, the crazy palace politics, and everything you need in great saguk but Kang Ha Na brought a depth to her character that is above everything else.

There were a lot of shocking twists throughout, the one that threw me off completely was the Queen Dowager (Park Ji Yeon). She was completely quiet and then emerged out of the rest of the mess. Crazy. You never really know what King Lee Tae’s intentions or Minister Park’s intentions are during the entire show. They threw me for a loop a few times.
I’m not a huge fan of Lee Joon. It might be because the first time I saw him was in My Father Is Strange and his character was awful. He always seems to look like he’s about to throw a tantrum. Kang Ha Na carried him well. Kang Ha Na is a beautiful and talented multifaceted actress and I want to see more of her.

This kdrama is amazingly entertaining and well made. The character development is on point. There are laughs and lots of tears. It will keep you on edge. So get the VPN if you’re in the US and watch this show.
