My Review

A lot of us love the idea of past lives and meeting again in the next life. Sometimes we have a feeling of comfort and feeling very close to someone after meeting them for the first time. I like believing that we met in a past life. It also gives us a comforting feeling when we lose someone we love that we may see them again in the next life or their next life will be better than the current one. So many unfair things happen in the world and it’s comforting to think that we paid our debts in this life and will live a better life in the next one.

I love how they used this concept to tell the otherwise simple love story of Seo Ha and Ji Eum. I honestly feel that Shin Hye Sun is the only actress who could fully pull off this role without making it look like she had dissociative personality disorder. Her performance in Mr. Queen proved it as well. She had to bring forward all of her past lives into a single 20 something woman. I guess this is what we call an old soul.

It wasn’t just the love story that sucks you in. It was Ji Eum’s reunion with her baby sister, Cho Won. It was so overwhelmingly emotional. I still tear up when I think about the two of them.

I have one question. Ahn Bo Hyun was in the pool a lot but why was his shirt always on? He had zero shirtless scenes. That is my own grievance about this show.

Seo Ha had a rough life that lacked love and affection that he wanted from his father. His mother died when he was young and his favourite person, Ju Won (Ji Eum’s 18th life) died in a car accident. He was extremely lonely and kept his distance from people.

Ji Eum was carefree and just says what is on her mind. She has lived through it all and some of her lives were full and beautiful and others were painful. She just wants to enjoy the moment. She is a perfect example of living in the moment. Screw what happened yesterday and there’s no point in worrying about what will happen tomorrow.

Spoilers (Sort of) Below

At the end, Ji Eum is left with a choice. Everyone she met in her past lives was getting sick. It was a trade off for meeting your loved ones again. She had a choice to forget all of her past memories and start again or continue to be able to remember her past lives. What would you have picked?
