Suspicious Partner vs. Shopping King Louis
I came off a string of very dark kdramas for two months and needed a pick me up. I thought of Nam Ji Hyun. She is always cute, positive, and a good actor. She has this magical ability to put you in a good mood.
Suspicious Partner – The Disappointment
Lead actors: Nam Ji Hyun, Ji Chang Wook, Kwon Na Ra, Choi Tae Joon, Jang Hyuk Jin, Kim Ye Won

Okay, don’t get upset with me. I know this show is super popular but I hated it. This is one of my biggest Kdrama disappointments and I honestly only finished it because Ji Chang Wook is so damn hot. The female lead, Eun Bong Hee (Nam Ji Hyun) is a clumsy lawyer. This character is the reason why I hated it so much. Bong Hee is clumsy and not in a cute way. She’s supposed to be a fourth degree blackbelt in Taekwondo but she constantly trips on her own feet. In Canada, fourth degree black belts have to register themselves as lethal weapons.
The two bad ass women in it were prosecutors Cha Yoo Jung (Kwon Na Ra) and Na Ji Hae (Kim Ye Won) and they were cheating assholes. I think the writer hated women. I’m not familiar with their other dramas (Hello Monster and Link: Eat, Love, Kill; etc) but I will likely not watch them if women are portrayed this way in all of their dramas.
The story was a typical thriller incorporated into a romcom. I guess it could’ve been interesting if I wasn’t so distracted by the horrible females in the show. I do wish they had more legal cases in each episode and maybe focused more on those. They also had way too many super long flashbacks. It was so unnecessary.
Nam Ji Hyun is not really the best with the steamy romance. She’s more fitting with the cute puppy love, Ji Chang Wook is all steam even when he’s going for puppy love. The two did not fit well. I didn’t feel any chemistry between them.
I think I’m the only person on this planet that did not like this show.
Shopping King Louis
Lead actors: Nam Ji Hyun, Seo In Gook, Yoon Sang Hyun, Lim Se Mi, King Sun Young

This was the healing I needed to get out the dark hole these dark Kdramas put me in. I remember watching the first episode a couple years ago and I thought it was so stupid that I stopped. Also, the poster is ugly. That poster will not attract anyone to watch this show. What’s up with that weird hazy pink/purple?
It’s still the same theme of poor girl and the rich guy but I love how Bok Shil (Nam Ji Hyun) was likeable, tough, and crafty. She won the hearts of all of the Ajumahs and they did not care that she didn’t have parents. Louis or Kang Ji Sung (Seo In Gook) was so sweet and adorable. He was still a bit ignorant of how people lived. He also did not have a malicious bone in his body.
I loved all of the plugs of old kdramas and K-movies from the 90s and early 2000s. The soundtrack was also awesome and well timed. Even the side character names were Jo In Sung (Oh Dae Hwan) and Geum Ja (lead character from Sympathy For Lady Vengence).
This show is full of loveable characters and heart warming moments. I definitely recommend this if you need a solid pick me up. Nam Ji Hyun and Seo In Gook have way better chemistry as well. Their energies were better matched.
