Yumi’s Cells 2 (Viki)
The second season of this amazingly ridiculously cute and touching show. This show is about Kim Yumi (Kim Go Eun), an average working woman in her early thirties who is looking for love and also finding out more about herself along the way. Last season we saw the beginning and end of her relationship with Goo Woong (Ahn Bo Hyun) and her feelings and thoughts told through her cells. This season we see her and her relationship with Yoo Ba Bi (Jinyoung). I’m liking this season a lot because we’re seeing so much more character development from Yumi and the positive influence Ba Bi has on her. Goo Woong is back this season. Is she going to pick Woong or Ba Bi? Or maybe she’s going to focus on her career as a writer.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo (Netflix)
Out of all of the shows on this list, this is my absolute favourite! Woo Young Woo (Park Eun Bin) is a lawyer who is on the autism spectrum. The writers of this show actually looked into autism before calling it Asperger’s Syndrome like they did on Move to Heaven. I don’t know how accurate this depiction of a person who is high functioning on the autism spectrum is but there is an episode where Young Woo explains her condition to those around her and one of her clients is a young man who is very low functioning to show the contrast that it is indeed on a spectrum.
No one else could have played the role of Woo Young Woo better than Park Eun Bin. She is a truly talented and beautiful actor. She never disappoints me (except for Do You Like Brahms but let’s be honest, that show was just straight boring and not her fault at all).
This show is an absolute must watch. I didn’t wait to save up the episodes for a binge with this show and I don’t watch it from my phone when I’m on the plane. I wait until I have a full size TV to enjoy without any distractions and I suggest you do the same. Bonus: the adorable Kang Tae Oh plays our male lead, a paralegal named Lee Joon Ho. Honestly, Tae Oh is spotlight stealer and I love seeing him as lead.
Eve (Viki)
Ooooohhhhh…. I love a good makjang. This show is a bunch of beautiful rich people getting revenge on the evil beautiful rich people. I missed Seo Ye Ji’s voice. She is a talented actor and does that bitchy yet innocent role s well. I don’t care about the rumors about her being a nasty bitch in real life. I’m sure most actors are not that nice when people are trying to get at them all day. This is a perfect show if you need a dose of overly dramatic beautiful people.
Oh My Baby (Netflix)
This is a cute romcom about Jang Ha Ri (Jang Na Ra), a 39 year old woman who really wants to have a baby but has no luck in the dating department. I kind of watch this one in the background. Okay, but who is this male lead? Han I Sang played by Go Jun. This man has a strange undercover not so secret sexiness about him. The only other show I’ve seen him in was Save Me where be played a scary mobster. He’s not sexy at first sight but he keeps getting sexier as you watch him.
Some cute things to note. The youngest on the team is Choi-Kang Eu Tteum (Jung Gun Joo). His last name is hyphenated because his parents are feminists and raised him to treat women with respect. I don’t know any Korean who hyphenated their parents last names and I hope this becomes a trend! Jang Na Ra always looks super young and they made a conscious effort to make her look older so she looks her age with her outfits and her hairstyle. Must be nice to never age.
The rest of the characters are likeable and cute as well. This is a nice easy watch. Nothing too heavy but feel good. I often watch this while I’m doing other things around the house.

Cafe Minamdang (Netflix)
There is something about Seo In Guk that draws me to his shows and this show is no different. It is a goofy and funny show that will entertain you. It’s about a wrongfully accused profiler who became a shaman, Nam Han Joon (Seo In Guk). He’s not an actual shaman but fakes it for money with his best friend who was also fired from the police force with him, Gong Soo Cheol (Kwak Si Yang) who has crazy fighting skills and his younger sister a super hacker with NIS security access named Name Hye Joon (Kang Mi Na).
The show is about them solving the three of them solving cases together while making money on the side pretending to talk to ghost. This show is entertaining with lots of action fight scenes.
Jinxed at First (Viki)
I’m on the fence about this show and I’m not sure if I want to continue this one. I started watching it because Na In Woo is cute and makes me happy. Seohyun also plays her character really well as person who can bring luck or misfortune to someone. Seol Bi (Seohyun) lives in captivity with her mom (Yoon Ji Hye) by a rich man who believes they are they ones who are making them rich. Seol Bi gets out one day and meets Gong Soo Gwang (Na In Woo). After that day Soo Gwang’s life comes crashing down on him. Everything that can possibly go wrong does. After someone made an attempt on his life, he went into hiding and changed his name. So now, we don’t know who tried to kill him. The answer seems obvious but there are clues that say otherwise.
Now, I think I’m on the fence about this one because compared to Extraordinary Attourney Woo, Eve, and Alchemy of Souls, it just not pulling my attention enough. It’s still a very sweet and cute show and I am rooting for all of the loveable characters in the show but I think it’s overshadowed by these other shows.
Alchemy of Souls (Netflix)
I waited for so long for this show to come on. It’s about an assassin, Naksoo who had to trade souls in order to survive and she switches souls with Moo Deok (Jung So Min). Everyone is looking for her to kill her but she has remained hidden so far. She meets the son of a wealthy family who had his energy blocked by his father when he was born, Jang Wook (Lee Jae Wook) and she becomes his master while pretending to be his servant to everyone else.
This show is absolutely beautifully made. Perfect cinematography. I love the fusion of a period drama with creativity of fantasy. This should be added to your must watch list. There are some rumours going around that Jung So Min is not going to be in the second season. I will be very disappointed if she is not in it. I absolutely lover her!
There are ton of excellent kdramas on right now. Out of the list above, my favourite is definitely Extraordinary Attourney Woo. Enjoy!
