We all need to welcome this cutie back to civilian life, as he recently completed his mandatory military service!

This handsome dongsaeng has been named the Monster Rookie and the name is well deserved. He debuted in around 2016 and has had lead roles in four kdramas in such a short period of time right before he enlisted for his mandatory military service.

Not only is he good looking with the cutest smile ever, he has always succeeded in many different roles. He has played a rebel in the Goryeo period in My Country, a chef determined to get a Michelin star in Temperature of Love, a prickly set designer in Still 17, and surgeon in Doctor Romantic. He has won several awards in such a short period of time. I think one of his biggest accomplishments was playing 3 different characters in one Duel. All three characters were very different.

My personal favourite role of his was Seo Hwi was My Country. He went from a playful young man who is trying to survive during the change in empires. Historical shows are difficult to pull of for more new actors mainly because they have to use very different words that they’re not used to. I imagine it would be difficult to act when saying words that you’re not used to. Many skilled actors still have a hard time with historical Korean dramas. My Country was mostly a war drama during a very tumultuous time in Korea and it’s not something I usually enjoy watching. He played his character so well and I became so invested in his character. I wanted him to do well and he made me ugly cry during that show so many times.

His romantic chemistry with his co-stars is amazing as well. I loved him with Shin Hye Sun in Still 17. His smile can make any heart melt.

I can’t seem to find any of his upcoming projects yet but I hope he has something on the books soon. I can’t wait to have him back on my TV screen again!
